Say Yes To Your Future

I’ve been in business and creating for many years. My company is based in New York City and we’re brand strategists with an emphasis on comms. I started off in this business as a receptionist at a high-powered PR firm, answering phones. I’d moved to New York to follow my fiction writing dream, and basically had zero cash. I was living in the East Village in the bad old days and, if I’m honest, having a blast. And I was writing. And I was dreaming.

After moving up from answering the phone to writing press releases, I ended up freelancing for a woman who really gave me my first real shot at my career. She was a true PR maven who thought a lot more like a marketer.

You can’t promote something without good content.

Fast forward seven years and a VP title later, I went on to become the PR division of one of the first and best fashion/lifestyle branding agencies. Working with them was like getting a B-school education in branding, a newish practice. I say ‘newish’ because branding is not new, it just has a new name.

In 2007 I went out on my own and that’s when things really picked up. You can read more about that in the ‘About Moi’ section but suffice to say I’ve launched a lot of careers – some awesome people have worked with me and for me. Plus, I’ve had the great privilege of working for some incredible brands - Revlon, L’Oréal Paris, Mars Wrigley, Bausch & Lomb, The Gap - to name a few - plus a myriad of exciting indie brand and start-ups.

So, what am I up to now? Running my biz, working with (as always) some super energizing clients, and I’m launching a storytelling concept. More on that in future blogs. But what am I doing here?

Every week people come to me for advice: start a new business, launch a new program, find a new job, pursue a new gig in the creative space. I spend a few hours a month listening to other people’s dreams and help them to think about their audience - new market or boss, find ways to package their ideas, give them concepts for how to develop and deliver the right messaging about what they want to do.

So, I started thinking why don’t I share out what I’ve learned all these years. And, based on people’s response to some of my articles and blogs, I’ll do some one-on-one sessions gratis.

I’ve had a good measure of success over the years – in many cases incredibly hard won. I credit this to many things, but one that stands out is who I am – I’m a ‘yes’ person, in the best possible way.

I don’t say yes to everything, but I always start with yes. I see possibilities everywhere. I start with yes, and then begin the process of narrowing things down.

I say yes with responsibility.

And this openness has helped me see new opportunities.

That’s what I want to do with my new online home – help you see the YES in your world. Provide a creative spark that might just move you on your way.

So, give some of my articles a read. If something resonates, leave a comment. I will come back to you with thoughts, but if I feel I can add a bit more I might invite you to a Zoom chat too. Let’s see what we can do together to bring your ‘yes’ to life.
